Hardback edition published by Thomas Tegg, London, UK in 1840. Subtitled “Being an Historical Account of Mankind’s most early Dealings with the Devil; and how the Acquaintance on both Sides first begun.” This edition is volume 12 in the series “The Novels and Miscellaneous Works of Daniel De Foe” produced by Thomas Tegg based on “the edition attributed to the late Sir Walter Scott”. Based on the 1728 version (the title page of which is reproduced) but with modernized English.

Very good condition. No DJ as issued. Spine ends and board corners bumped and cloth worn. Spine faded and gilt is dulled. Top page edges are darkened with shelf dust. Page edges tanned. Previous owners inscriptions to front end papers. Binding tight. Pages clean and flat.
